The Trust relies on the generosity of the Scottish public to survive. There are many ways you can help to support our work. Some of these are detailed below but you may want to organise an event yourself. Dances, barbecues and coffee mornings are popular.
Give Money
Standing Orders, Direct Debit, Give as You Earn, Legacies, online donations
Download the Standing Order Form (PDF)
You can support the Trust by donating through regular gifts by Direct Debit/Standing Order, GAYE (Give As You Earn), making a legacy in your will, or by online donations.
You can Give as You Earn through CAF which the Trust belongs to.
Should you wish to include a legacy to the Trust in your Will, a suggested form of words is as follows:
I direct my Trustees and Executors to make payment of a legacy of (amount in words) (£amount in figures) to the SCOTTISH COT DEATH TRUST (Scottish Charity Number SC003458), Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill, Glasgow G3 8SJ, and that as soon as is reasonably practical after my death and without interest.
You can of course, also make online donations.
Gift Aid
If you pay income tax, Gift Aid is a way of making your donation worth more to the Trust at no cost to you. If you complete a Gift Aid declaration, the Trust can reclaim from the Inland Revenue the basic tax already paid by you on your gift. At present for every £10 you give we can reclaim a further £2.82.
The Gift Aid declaration is a statement that you have paid sufficient tax to equal or exceed the amount being reclaimed. If you pay income tax at the higher rate, you can reclaim the difference between that and the basic rate on the donations you have made when submitting your tax return. If you think this applies to you, please include the following when sending your donation:
I am a taxpayer and would like the Trust to reclaim tax already paid on this sum from the Inland Revenue

Shop Online
Support the Trust by shopping online!
The Scottish Cot Death Trust has teamed up with an online shopping website to raise vital funds for the Trust. You can shop online with over 1500 stores (including High Street stores) and earn extra cash for the Trust simply by purchasing items you planned to buy anyway. It couldn't be easier and we have outlined the process in 4 easy steps.
- Visit www.froggybank.co.uk/scottish-cot-death-trust to register and start shopping with your favourite shops.
- The retailer pays Froggybank a referral fee
- Froggybank pay 100% of the referral fee to you as cashback
- You choose how much to keep or donate to the Scottish Cot Death Trust
It really is as easy as it sounds.
Raise Money
You can either decide to organise your own event or participate in one of the many events which take place country-wide.
Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB)
The FRSB deals with complaints about how its members raise money but more importantly it offers the public a 'mark of reassurance' to look for when giving to charities in the future.
Membership of FRSB is voluntary, and in registering as a member this means that we have agreed to adhere to a strict set of codes and a Fundraising Promise committing us to treat the public with respect, fairness, honesty and clarity in all our money raising activities.
We have also signed up to an independent, robust and transparent complaints process and our membership will be visible to the public through the addition of the FRSB logo on our fundraising materials. So, look for the “tick” and you can be sure that you are supporting a professional and transparent charity.
A special way of remembering
The Scottish Cot Death Trust has teamed up with another charity called "MuchLoved" to offer bereaved families the opportunity to create sensitive, personalised and lasting memorial websites in memory of your loved ones. Your MuchLoved Tribute allows you and your family and friends to express your grief, share your memories and pay a lasting tribute to your loved one together. It is free to set up and will be hosted freely for ten years. Through your own personalized MuchLoved Tribute you can add photographs, music and even video clips. Your Tribute can help you to express, keep and display valuable personal memories and thoughts about your loved one.
- You can use your Tribute to enable family and friends to send their thoughts and you can invite them to contribute as well, maybe by adding a lovely picture you've never seen.
- You can use your Tribute to keep your own private bereavement diary and to listen to your own personal music play list.
- You can use your Tribute to pass on information about anniversaries or other important occasions to your family & friends.
- You can keep your Tribute totally private or choose to allow public access to view. The privacy of your site is completely handed over to you.
- You can use your Tribute as a fitting way of raising donations to your chosen charity.
- You can develop and keep a beautiful lasting record and legacy for your family and future generations.
The good news is you don't have to be a computer expert to set it up – it's incredibly easy to do. Visit www.muchloved.com for more information.
Raising money – just a click away
Raise money for Scottish Cot Death Trust just by searching the web. Everyclick.com is an internet search engine with a big difference - it donates half its revenue to charity.
If you use everyclick.com as your search engine, every search you do can raise money for Scottish Cot Death Trust. If you aren't technically minded, Everyclick is just like other search engines so instead of using your normal search engine to find what you're looking for on the internet, just use Everyclick and you can benefit the Trust. But don't forget to register the Scottish Cot Death Trust as your preferred charity the first time you use it.
Please go to www.everyclick.com/uk/scottishcotdeathtrust to do all your searching. Don't forget to add it to your favourites so you can find it again easily and you can make it your home page by clicking on the link in the top right hand corner of the site. It does not cost us, or you, a penny - so please use it - and pass the message on!
Ask your employer if everyone at your place of work can use Everyclick as their homepage and their main search engine. You'd be surprised how quickly the donations mount up. We will receive payment based on the number of users and the number of people who chose the Scottish Cot Death Trust as their named charity on the site. You can even keep track of how much money you have helped to raise by using Everyclick as your search engine.
